Better Days Ahead

Today we’re helping our kids babysit, one of the boys and Maggie, their black lab.  Both seem pretty excited to be here. Nicholas gets some special attention and spoiling and  Mags loves the neighborhood (lots of dogs and squirrels) !  She gets so thrilled coming over that when she gets about a mile away her enthusiasm beings its peak in all kinds of canine ways.  We have to spell “w-a-l-k” around her or she will go beserk until it happens, but when we take her on one she is elated to see and smell more critters.

Imagine how unthrilled the disciples were when Jesus told them He would be crucified and leave them. I’m sure then it didnt make their top ten lessons that He’d taught them.  As John 14 begins the Lord told His disciples, “Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for YOU.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive YOU unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”  (vss.1-3).

There are many things which seek to trouble us here and what can alleviate that stress is a simple belief in the fact that better days lie ahead for the child of God !  He is waiting your arrival, He is preparing YOUR place, YOU will one day be with Him and all the saints forever. No more pain, nor more sadness, or sickness – the opposite !!  There’s something to “bark” about !!

What will that mansion be like? We don’t know for sure now, but anything the Lord makes you can figure will be awesome !  At times my wife and I have talked about what if we could build our own place, exactly to our liking. What would we design? What would you build if you had a lot of money?  What special items might you have in your newly built mansion? What special room or features would be included?  I believe what the Lord is doing now is making it more special than our mind could even dream up ! You are His once saved, His loving care is now going in to preparing a place  you will thoroughly enjoy for all eternity !

But better than a place is the Person we’ll enjoy forever and ever !   “I will come again. . .that where I am, there ye may be also.”  Imagine seeing Him, spending time with Him, speaking to Him, wow !!!  This old world gets us down at times, but we have a better hope, something to get truly thrilled about, and all because of Him !!
