The Gift of Time

Well we’re down to the last month of the year.  Amazing how time flies, huh?  And do you also find that as you age it seems to be a little faster too?  Remember when you were a kid waiting for your birthday or for Christmas to come? Uggh, it seemed, as they say, like an eternity !  But it wasn’t.  Christmas came and went and so did another one the next year.  Friends of your youth are now like you, eh, not so young, right Ronda?  How about it Mike? Did Suzanne really rob the cradle or did you? HA !!   But I digress, yet with pleasure —

We use “forever” and “eternity” to exaggerate but we’re vastly understating the truth concerning such a concept. Ps.90:2 says of God, “Before the mountains brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God !”   Jesus said near the end of the Bible, “I AM the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”   Using the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, the Lord was endeavoring to describe to us that He encompasses the whole of time and eternity !  When Moses approached that bush that burned yet wasn’t consumed in Exodus 3:14 and asked the Lord for His name, God responded with this, “I AM THAT I AM” !!  What He meant there was He is the Self-Existent, Eternal One !

This is one of these biblical truths its hard to wrap our brains around. How do you grasp time without end? How can we with our limited minds conceive of our life never ending?  Yet, in Christ, one of our greatest gifts from Him is just the fact that when we were born again we received ETERNAL life !  Well, I could go on and on “forever” about this, oops !  But if I did, I’d have enough time wouldn’t I?

Suffice it to say, you will probably need a lot of time this month to get ready for all the things needed to do before the holidays. But in all your doing and when time flies by and you look back at the blur of December just remember, God has given you time and eternity to richly enjoy, spend it well, enjoy His gift today and WAAAAAAY beyond !!
