Grin and “bear” it !!

Last night I was speaking with my parents on the phone and they told me they’d had a visitor that morning, a 400+ pound black bear !   They watched as it lumbered slowly in front of their house, through the yard, across the road, then into the field and back toward the woods.  Dad said he walked down the lane through the field “just as if he owned the place”, ha !!  In the mean time as they watched their bruin “friend”, their dog Beau was going crazy inside the house wanting a “piece of the bear”.  But as my father said, had they let him out the bear would’ve killed him being so much bigger.  Had they not happened to look out they would’ve missed seeing him or worse, could’ve went outside and been very very surprised to say the least !

We have our scary visitors each morning too when you think about it.  We have the three fold “bears” of the world, the flesh, and the devil each threatening our life from being all it can be in the Lord.   John warns us to “Love not the world” (1 Jn.2:15), that is, this worldly system opposed to godliness and God.  Jeremiah instructs us that the heart or flesh is “desperately wicked and deceitful above all things” (Jer.17:9) and Peter admonishes us to “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1Pt.5:8).     Our strategy against all three is to each and every day walk with Him, for when we do we can be assured that no matter how big the enemy is, God is bigger and better !

Have you a temptation that’s been getting the best of you lately?  Does your thought life plague you in some way? Perhaps bitter thoughts, or vengeful ones?   Are you fearing something looming on the horizon you need to face?  Rest assured, as a child of God you have Him to help you with any “bear” you have to deal with, so don’t go it alone, walk with God and allow Him to help you. After it all, its just a “bear”, He’s GOD !!!
