“Its All About. . . ” ??

Now that it’s April, my wife will be sure to let me know sometime  soon, that this is her “birthday month” !   Kind of a “tradition” she started some years ago to jokingly remind me that this time of the year is, as she has said, “All about ME” !  Thankfully, I’m blessed to have a wife who isn’t really that way but even for the best of believers that phrase can so easily become a creed we slip into.  And when we do, we heap all kinds of problems unto ourselves.

John the Baptist was said by Jesus to be the greatest man born among women and he endeavored to live his life by this theme: “He (Jesus) must increase, but I must decrease.”  (Jn.3:30).  It’s a simple statement but if lived out even typically (for we all fail at times) what a tremendous blessing our life can be !    As we think more upon the cross this week and then the empty tomb one cannot help but be driven to contemplate anew the love of God show for us and how that same love should promote in us more the opposite of “it’s all about me”.   Take some time today to think about how you can make this week more about Him through the life He has graced you with !
