Life DOES have meaning and purpose

Today your life has a purpose. No matter what is happening, God has a plan and a grand design. “. . .all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (Rom.8:28).   Yet Satan would love us to think otherwise and get us on a path whereby we blow out for God.   A college student once made this statement, “Everything in life is meaningless !” Think about that for a moment.     Of course as a Christian when things are going relatively well for us we would never dream of making such an absurd statement. The remark cannot be true because IT has meaning and so the very comment destroys itself: to say everything in life is meaningless would mean even that idea is too !! Or put another way, when the young man made such a claim he assumed what he said had meaning and so if what he said was meaningful then everything in life cannot be meaningless !!  Did you get that?  If not, then read again until it becomes meaningful !!  HA.

But when times get very trying, even a believer can start to believe “what’s the point?” ” as the trials of life dominate our thinking and we have great difficulty seeing anything positive or redeeming.  Joseph must’ve had some long conversations with the Lord as he sat in an Egyptian prison wondering “what’s the use?  life is the pits !”    We’re not sure he got so low, but I’m thinking he was human and probably wrestled much with life and how he’d been sold down the river more than once, how he’d done right only to be done wrong repeatedly.  But God in His time elevated Joseph to a place of great prominence and in His plan used the young man greatly.  There will be times we are put through the wringer, when we want to give up.  At these times we come to a crossroad in our Christian life: will we get bitter or better?    Joshua framed that decision well encouraging us centuries later with: “. . .choose you this day whom ye will serve. . . but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Josh.24:15).     When life gets hard, read of Joseph, of Daniel, of Ruth. These lives will prod your life to stay the course for Him Who IS designing a grand masterpiece in your life, even through the rough patches !!
