Go Team !!

In Sunday School lately we have  been learning in Romans how we really do need each other. No man is to be an “island unto himself”.  Yesterday I saw glimpses of this as  I spoke with one of the men in our church and he was mowing the church property while another faithful couple will be picking up a couple of new ladies today for church whom I have been endeavoring to get out. Teamwork is critical to true success in a church as well as sports.    Back in the 1970’s I remember watching in my teen years a team, the Portland Trailblazers, who made it to the basketball finals that year. They were not as loaded with talent as their opponent but they won the final game and took home the trophy, all because they tapped into this formula for success: teamwork !  They actually were playing against a team I really liked but they won me over by their humility and awesome teamwork !!

When Paul wrote to a church that’d become divisive and anything but team players, he scolded them at first by writing: “Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?” (1Cor.1:13) then as he proceeded to teach them in 12:21-22, “And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee. . . Nay, much more those members of the body which seem to be more feeble, are necessary.”  Are you being a teamplayer at your church?  Are you allowing others to learn from you, the things God has helped you to hone?  Are you using the talents God has graced you with in a humble way to progress His work?   Are you willing to step up to the plate when things need done and to do so FOR Him?      As we work together under His control we will accomplish much for the Lord !!
