When Trucks Fly

Have you seen the pictures in the news of tractor trailers flying through the air? Yes, I’m serious, they were tossed about by massive winds and tornadoes down in Texas!!  If you haven’t, hears a look see:  http://www.theblaze.com/stories/massive-storms-tornadoes-hit-dallas-fort-worth-area-damage-reported/      Utterly amazing !   As a boy we had few such storms in Pennsylvania but I do recall during one storm a large wooden spool used for telephone cable being tossed through the air.  THESE are just a tiny smidgin of the power of God !!!

Coming up fast in Easter now we are being reminded of God’s power in the resurrection as well as in tinier, and I do mean tinier, examples of what God can do or allow to be done since He is omnipotent.  The Bible states in Ps.139:13, “For Thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”   He has formed your body and done so with great precision, power & wisdom. He has “covered” or woven all your various parts of your body just so like a brilliant embroidered work. The hebrew word here means tro be “woven together”.  Your body wasn’t just thrown together, it did not evolve from pond scum but is a masterful work of art designed by THE all-powerful God !  The various organs work in concert beautifully to offer us all life (the lungs need the heart, heart the lungs, liver the kidneys and so on).

When Jesus instructed His apostles to reach the world for Him after His resurrection, I’m pretty sure they were fearful about going to do that as He said, “But ye shall receive POWER, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8).  All these places held fear to them: Jerusalem was where they had just killed Christ !  Judea was where there was a great concentration of His enemies in the Sanhedrin. Samaria was Samaria, there was great animosity there towards the Jews, period, and the rest of the world was the rest of the world as it is today: antagonistic, hostile towards the Lord and His Word.  Yet the key in alleviating their fears was His POWER.

Do you fear doing something you know you should?  Are you worried if you do right some adversity may come?  Remember those flying trucks, but even moreso the RESURRECTION !!  Just a “drop in the bucket” as to what God is able to do !!
