Beyond the Sunset

Tomorrow my wife and I look forward to what we hope will be a great day as we get to spend some time together. Its a day off and we plan to go see our granddaughter accompanied by our foster grandson !  From time to time we all have those kind of days we look forward to, which keep us plugging away in the present and give us hope too.

The Lord has loaded up the Bible with a lot of hope and much in the form of prophecy.  The Scriptures paint an exciting portrait of what lies in store for the believer’s future and its something we need to latch onto and read and reread about when the present gets a little weary for us. For instance, Jesus encouraged His disciples (including you) with these words in Jn.14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you: I go to prepare a place for YOU. And if I go and prepare a place for you: I will come again and receive you unto Myself, that where I am, there ye may be also.”     Our hearts gets anxious at times with what goes on here and so He used the word “troubled” for this anxiety which has the idea of agitation or removing of calmness. He attempts to arrest our anxieties by urging us to stay resolute in our faith in Him: “believe also in Me”. Then He proceeds to speak of what He’s doing for our future and its great !  Not only will we enjoy a great place to live but a great Person to live with as well !!

Let me try to make this even more practical.  This is real, it is not a fairy tale or pipe dream. One day you will see Jesus, be with Him and this will not end !  Your abode will be better than you can now imagine or perceive of even with the descriptions we have of the eternal state in the Bible  ! What you have “on your plate” today may not be too exciting, in fact, at times it may be downright dull but as a child of God you have a fantastic future in store and with each tick of the clock YOU are closer to finally realizing it !     So when you get a little bogged down with today, a little anxious,  go read something about your future, it’s all good !!!!
