Comatose or Consecrated?

How incredibly refreshing it must’ve been for David to have finally confessed his sin to the Lord after Nathan had been used of the Lord to draw him back to fellowship with his Maker.   There are no excuses, no rationalizing when David prayed, “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of Thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.” (Ps.51:1).  He simply repented of his waywardness towards the Lord and God graciously forgave some pretty grave sins: adultery, murder to name a few !  What hope for us then !!

If the layers were peeled back on us for all the world to see, our sins exposed and laid bare before all, even the church of God would have to admit, we all still do sin and come short of the glory of God.   So it is so comforting to know that when we fall, He is there as the perfect Father to pick us up when we confess as well.   Hopefully, every day you attend to your personal hygiene, there’s the whole deal: shower, shave, teeth, hair, etc.  Isn’t it a great feeling though to feel really clean after a hard workout or sweaty venture?  But how clean one feels and IS when confessing sin and then truly believing the promise of God that He truly is “faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 Jn.1:9).  Without this, what hope would we have to live a positive, righteous life?

Has it been a while since you have taken your spiritual hygiene seriously?  It’s easy to gloss over those “little sins” and move on with life but we must tidy up our heart or we will miss the life He gives in a blur of a spiritual coma and fail to experience the hand of God more clearly in the life that is truly walking with Him !   Is there something you should take some time to talk to the Lord and clear up some accounts?  He would love to walk with you this day in harmony and enjoy His fellowship.   If before God you truly believe things are fine, keep at it and show the world how joyous it is to live for Him !!
