Celebrate Life

My wife and I are less than two weeks from the due date for the arrival of our granddaughter.  Yep, we’re psyched. We hope our little granddaughter loves pink, we have enough of it now around our house in preparation !!  The blessing of life is truly remarkable as the psalmist said, “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward.” (Ps.127:3).   The process God has made for birth is utterly amazing and displays His great wisdom as women can carry a life in them, sustaining and nourishing that little one then being able to carry it to birth.

When David wrote the 139th psalm he included these words: “I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  My substance was not hid from Thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect. . . ”   (vss.14-16).  At conception the baby’s unique DNA is created so that all the traits of his body are determined !   The heart is said to start beating around three weeks, at six fingers and toes have developed, and at eleven weeks he begins to smile and wiggle his toes and fingers !!   Two weeks later his ears start to pick up vibrations and its the mother’s heartbeat that is then sensed and comforts the infant.   By six months everything is developed and he awaits his arrival into the outside world !

Its been almost forty years now that the devilish Roe v.Wade ruling was issued by the Supreme Court which has allowed the murders of millions of these precious lives.  And as technology advances more and we learn more about this miracle of life, the only thing that would keep such a heinous law being upheld is an increasingly sinful world that won’t be confused by the facts.   But as Jeremiah wrote early in his book he let us know what God told him about his pre-birth existence: “Then the Word of the Lord came unto me saying, ‘Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jer.1:5).  Every baby is a precious gift from God, every adult has, like them, a Divine purpose in life !     Each of us should be extremely grateful to the Lord for the life He has given us, each of us should be extremely diligent to use that life for His glory today and every day !!  Living the life God gave you for Him can help check the decay of sin in our world and shed the light on the fact that God is infinitely wise, gracious, and loving !  Celebrate life today, live it for Him !!!
