A Song in YOUR heart

This spring it seems the birds are a bit more expressive near our house.  We’re regularly treated to the coo of doves or the warbling of some other bird, they always seem to have a “song in their heart” !    And I have to admit, its kinda cool hearing them chirp away.  This is also God’s design for us too, a song in your heart.

Consider the words of Paul to those fickle Galatians, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, JOY, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith” (5:22) then couple with this what he wrote to us in Ephesians 5:18-19, “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord.”  As you comply with the command to be filled (controlled totally) by God there will be supernaturally produced (not human concocted) evidences, one of which is real spiritual joy !  Oh trials will still at times come and we may experience some sadness but there will be this underlying joy that, if you allow, will overcome life’s circumstances no matter how adverse they be.

So note our part is to obey the command to be filled, while God’s part is to bring that song in your heart !  As you yield to Him, He brings a joyous yield to YOU !  Note too the connection with singing?  Most of us like to hum something when we’re happy.  But some of us might just wear a big smile and spare the world nearby with their singing (if you catch my drift). But seriously, there will be a God given joy the world with all its toys and cheap promises can never duplicate.   You may be going through some tough times now, but you can still have a song in your heart and its especially these times you are the greatest evangelist for the Lord.   You may be cruising through your week and a lot is on your mind but there isn’t much joy inside. Why not at such times, be honest about that. Confess that you have been running the show and turn it over to Him and watch Him bring a spiritual concert to your soul today !!!
