Starting your week RIGHT

Its a brand new week. On our calendars, Sunday is the first day of the week and the Lord has, in His Word, placed an emphasis on corporate worship for this day in the New Testament.  It is His desire we start each week with Him and each other in His house and the early Christians began this as the church age commenced. Note what Dr. Luke recorded of believers then in Acts 20:7, “And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them . . . ”

God has very good reasons for us to be in His house on the “Lord’s day” and certainly one is that worship should be the prevailing thought as we go through our week.  God must be first or we are in trouble !   In His Sermon on the Mount Jesus preached, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you” (Mt.6:33).  Hopefully, starting out our week so will clear our heads, renew our spirits, and refresh our souls but do you give much thought to how your presence there is an encouragement to the Lord and to fellow church goers ?

We cannot yet see the Lord in His physical body but we can see Him through the lives of other saints and no place is better than the local church. Since I have been saved it has been highly encouraging to see and worship with my siblings in Christ who love the Lord.  You see how God is changing them, how they handle life’s situations, you laugh and cry with them, you enjoy their fellowship and hence get a glimpse of the Lord Himself !    What a great place to start our weeks, so wonderfully designed by a gracious Savior.  Place a premium on it week after week, you’ll be so glad you did !!
