Today is another part of LIFE

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of LIFE; and man became a LIVING soul.” (Gen.2:7).  The fact that you are reading that precious verse is evidence YOU have had that wonderful gift of life passed down to YOU ! You can read and comprehend, a dog cannot. You can reason and contemplate the intricacies of creation. YOU were created in the very image and likenesss of God. When He created Adam He simply used ground. Adam’s name means ground in the Hebrew (as I sometimes joke, our name is MUD !).  From the earth He had formed and fashioned it into the first human then imparted a soul into Adam breathing into him LIFE ! Amazing, gracious !!

This week the Lord has focused my mind a bit more on life. I had the privilege of holding in my arms a baby boy born this Tuesday to a wonderful  young couple who joined our church this year.  Thursday I learned a dear lady who attends our church lost her mom to cancer on the same floor of the hospital where this little baby was born. Yesterday we learned we’ll be grandparents of a baby girl and saw her first picture laying comfortably in her mother’s womb !    Life indeed is precious, yet as James says it’s also brief here, “and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.” (1:11).  So today, make the most of the life God allows YOU. Enjoy it just as we celebrate a new birth, be sober about it as are with life’s end here.  Tell your loved ones you love them. Be kind to all God brings in your path, even those who aren’t to you for then they will know that your life isn’t wasted on cheap shots back but good deeds and loving attitudes.

The great apostle Paul wrote, “Redeeming the time because the days are evil” (Eph.5:16).  Using a real estate term he advised us to wisely buy up life’s opportunities ultimately for the Lord with the understanding that the days here are “evil”, that is, they are brief. We never know when this pilgrim journey will come to a close, so make sure of salvation so that you will enjoy life eternal, make sure you’re right with Him so you will not be ashamed at His coming, so live well today my friend, live well !
